The Only Way To Fight A System That Is Depriving Us From Being With Our Children, Is To Educate Ourselves About That System!
WILL J. REEVES JR.
Director
Will J. Reeves is the founder of “The Legal Discussion for Non-Custodial Parents.” His reasoning behind creating such a forum, comes from his own first-hand experience with being a non-custodial parent. However, due to his tenacity and diligence, he was granted full custody of his daughter in 2017. His journey has not been an easy one, therefore he decided to reach out to others in his community, who seem to be going through hell and high water, just to obtain visitation rights with their children. For many parents who have the desire to gain full custody of their children, especially those who have had brushes with the law, this possibility seems extremely remote.
Mr. Reeves overcame a 16-year drug addiction with the Support of the (Texas Offenders Reentry Initiative), also the drug addiction made him suicidal on three occasions. He also spent time in prison, and Only through God and by Applying himself within the wonderful Bible Based Cornerstone Baptist Church, he got his joy back and started to live a more positive life. Mr. Reeves, with the grace of God, transformed himself into the model parent he needed to be, to make a difference in his daughter’s life. He believes that with some coaching and counseling, there are many parents who can put an end to their heartache by using the legal system which is already in place, to spend time with their children.
We all have faults and we have a history, but we cannot continue to allow lack of information about the legalities involving our rights to be a part of our children’s lives, keep us away from our children. So what if you cannot afford to pay child support, that does not take away your right to spend time with your child unless something else is involved. Unfortunately, many non-custodial parents are not aware of this right. Therefore, we strongly encourage parents who are having difficulty spending time with their children, to bring their paperwork with them to the Discussion, so a legal professional can assess what all may be involved with them regaining their rights, to be an integral part of their children’s lives. Not only that, but our Discussion takes a holistic approach to helping you get back on track in your children’s lives, by also providing you with information about employment opportunities.
Mr. Reeves, is the owner of a Dallas, Texas based, multimedia business company called “Sir Bishop Designs” which offers graphic design, photography, videography and video editing services. Due to the manner in which he has transformed his life, and continues to reach back to his community to find ways to help them heal themselves and to empower him, he has been invited to speak at numerous functions such as Lone Star Politics with Senator John Cornyn and Judge Birmingham’s AIM’s Project for Youth.
Due to the amount of success “The Legal Discussion for Non-Custodial Parents” has seen in Dallas, Texas, Mr. Reeves has decided to take this discussion on the road, with the goal of reconnecting many more children with their parents. “The Legal Discussion for Non-Custodial Parents” is free to attend. Fees may be involved with obtaining legal records and filing of legal documents, as well as seeking the services of an attorney.
Pastor Chris L. Simmons, I have had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Will Reeves and his daughter, Chandra, for over 7 years. He is a very active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in South Dallas where I Serve as pastor. He is also a leader in the church's AV/Media Ministry and provides photography services to members on several occasions. During his time at Cornerstone, not only has he been active but has his daughter as well. Some of the areas where she has been and is engaged are Cornerstone Kids, Youth Programming,Entrepreneurship Day and volunteering in other areas. Even Before Chandra Came to Live with her Father on a full time basis, he would always bring her to the various programs offered by the church.
When I found out that Mr. Reeves was having to return to court to fight to have his daughter to remain in the current living situation of being with him the majority of the time, I told him that I would be glad to write a character letter in reference because I knew first hand the investment that he makes his daughter. I have personally driven him
to pick up his daughter from school because he makes sure that she arrives safely in the morning and return safely in the afternoon.
In a day when fathers are often absent from their children's lives on a consistent basis, I
can testify that Will Reeves breaks that stereotype. I believe if many other Fathers had the same type of commitment to being in the lives of their children, the community would be a better place. Also a little while back a local newspaper, The Dallas Weekly, recognized his example as a committed father and wrote a extensive article
on him.
